ATHENS — If Athens coach Jack Young was to make a movie about an Athens football game it would have played out much like the Wildcats' season-opening, 38-6, non-league win over Hanover Area here Friday night at Alumni Stadium.
The Wildcats forced a fumble on the second play of the game, and junior Keegan Rude pounced on the loose ball at the Hanover Area 35.
Senior QB Kaden Rude opened the first Athens possession with a 12-yard toss to Keegan Rude. Junior Damian Hudson, who had an 11-yard run on the third play of the drive, capped the scoring march with a 2-yard TD run on the seventh play. Senior Aric Westbrook's first of five PAT kicks gave Athens a 7-0 lead with 8:18 left in the first quarter.
